What we do

Six things we do, and we do them properly

Most weeks are a mix of houses and site work. A switchboard that has not been touched since the seventies, a kitchen that needs the lighting set out again, a split system going into a bedroom before the build-up, or a light pole out on the red dirt that needs a cherry picker and a morning.

Tell us about your job

Switchboard upgrades

Old ceramic fuses and mixed-vintage boards swapped for a properly labelled board with modern RCBOs, so a fault trips one circuit instead of the whole house.

Lighting and power point installations

New downlights, replacement fittings, extra power points and outdoor lighting. Done to a plan, patched neatly, and cleaned up before we leave.

Safety switch upgrades

RCD protection added or brought up to current standard, then tested in front of you so you can see the trip actually works.

Electrical safety certificates

Compliance documentation for works carried out, for owners, agents and anyone who needs the paperwork to match the wiring.

Renovation and new build wiring

Full rough-in and fit-off for extensions, renovations and new builds, coordinated around the other trades on site.

Split system installations

Supply and install of split system air conditioning. We are a proud Fujitsu provider, whether you are replacing a tired unit or putting one in from scratch.

Set up for site work, not just switchboards

Jack has worked across the NT, the Goldfields and the Pilbara, on residential, commercial and mining projects. That means the gear and the tickets to take on work that is a long way from a domestic callout: high mast and car park lighting off an elevated work platform, switchrooms, distribution boards and commercial fit-outs.

It also means the same electrician who wires a site shed is the one who turns up when your kitchen lights stop working.

Ceramic fuses and decades of pencilled-on labels, replaced with a labelled board of RCBOs where every circuit is named.

Switchboards get labelled so the next person, us or anyone else, can read what is what. Lighting gets set out before anything is cut. And the site gets cleaned up before we go, which turns up in the reviews more often than the wiring does.

Who turns up

Meet Jack, the man behind Wilcox Electrical

Jack has years of experience across the NT, the Goldfields and the Pilbara, working on residential, commercial and mining projects. Wilcox Electrical is what came out of that: a Karratha business built on three things, honest service, quality workmanship, and doing the job right.

He is joined by Ben, a qualified electrician who came on board with the same approach to the work. Between them the phone gets answered, the quote turns up when it was promised, and the job gets finished the way it was described.

Being locally owned matters more up here than it does most places. There is no head office in Perth deciding whether Karratha is worth the trip, and no waiting a fortnight for someone to fly in. If you are in Karratha or the surrounding areas, you are simply local.

What Karratha says

Every review, five stars

These are straight off Google, word for word. The pattern in them is the same one we would want you to notice: the phone gets picked up, and the job gets finished.

I recently had issues at my place of residence and tried to engage electrical businesses in the area with no luck. I was informed by a mate to give Wilcox Electrical (Jack) a call...and I am glad I did, he dropped everything and made his way to Wickham to investigate the problem. From the initial contact through to completion, their communication was clear, professional, and prompt. Price is extremely fair for the Pilbara... would highly recommend this electrical business to anyone looking for reliable, skilled, and professional service.

Highly recommend this electrical service. He responded very quickly to our request and went above and beyond to fix a major electrical issue. He continued working well outside normal business hours to ensure our power was fully restored and we weren't left without power overnight. Very friendly, professional, and reliable service throughout the whole process.

Had an electrical problem in my unit on a Sunday, was quite desperate to get it fixed but no where was open. Rang Wilcox Electrical and he was super helpful, even came out same day to sort it for me. Very professional and friendly! Would highly recommend.

Jack came out to quote the same day I contacted him and then was able to complete the 2 PowerPoint's while he was there! Reasonably priced and he cleaned up to boot.
